Database Administrator

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Database Administrator for our global online network of video games. The right candidate must be an effective communicator, self-motivated, and a good team player. This position focuses on day-to-day Oracle database administration as well as working with developers to drive new features and technology improvements to our online game platform. Qualified candidates should be excited about technology and always strive to apply new technology in creative ways.

Abilities:

Exhibit strong problem solving skills.
Exercise great communication skills, as well as be organized and helpful.

Professional Requirements:

3-6 years experience in database administration and optimization.
Strong analytical and diagnostic database skills.
Prior interaction with software development teams.
Understanding of the complexities of working in an environment where systems must function 24/7.
Bachelor of Science.

Required Technical Skills:

At least 2 years with Oracle 10g.
Hands on experience maintaining, installing, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery in Oracle.
Ability to tune queries, partitions, etc… to ensure the database is running optimally.
Knowledge of Linux is a strong plus.

Other:

This is a staff position with no supervisory responsibility.
Did we mention that we need someone with excellent communication skills? This position will interface with IT, development, sales, and marketing and must be able to do so efficiently and effectively.
